Grosslytics vs Plausible

The Plausible alternative that shows where revenue comes from.

Plausible is simple, private traffic analytics. Grosslytics keeps that simplicity, with a 1.5 KB script and no cookies, and adds what Plausible does not: it receives your payment webhooks, credits each sale to the channel that brought the buyer, and shows revenue after gateway fees and ad spend. Choose Plausible for open-source, EU-hosted traffic analytics; choose Grosslytics when you need to know which channels pay.

What is Plausible?

Plausible (plausible.io) is open-source, cookie-free web analytics, made and hosted in the EU. It covers pageviews, sources, goals and custom events, funnels, saved segments and annotations, and can import Google Analytics data. Revenue can be recorded by sending revenue values with custom events from your own code; it does not list payment-provider integrations.

  • You need open-source software or EU hosting
  • You want Google Analytics import and a long track record

  • You sell through Stripe, Razorpay, Polar, Paddle or Lemon Squeezy
  • You want each sale credited to the post or search that found the buyer
  • You want revenue per visitor and profit per channel
  • You want to self-host for free

Plausible pricing vs Grosslytics pricing

Plausible Starter is $9/month for up to 10,000 pageviews and one site, with a 30-day free trial and no retention limit. Growth starts at $14/month, and price rises with traffic.

Grosslytics self-hosted is $0 on your own Cloudflare account, with no pageview or site limit from us. Hosted plans are offered from /start.

Revenue goals vs revenue attribution

In Plausible, you send a revenue amount with a custom event, usually from your checkout success page. That tells you a sale happened on that visit. It does not hear about renewals, refunds or fees, and a buyer who comes back days later from another channel is credited to that last visit only.

Grosslytics listens to your payment provider instead. Each signed webhook is matched to the visitor ID carried through checkout, so first-touch, last-touch and linear credit, renewals, full Stripe refunds and gateway fees are all handled without event code.

Privacy

Both tools are cookie-free. Plausible identifies visits with a daily-rotating hash and stores nothing in the browser. Grosslytics stores a random visitor ID in localStorage, which is what lets it connect a purchase days later to the first visit. That trade-off buys revenue attribution; check whether your visitors’ jurisdiction needs a notice or consent for it.

How to switch from Plausible

  1. Deploy Grosslytics to your Cloudflare account from /start. The setup checks each step against real data, so you know when it works.
  2. Replace the Plausible script tag with the Grosslytics one. You can run both side by side for a week to compare numbers before removing Plausible.
  3. Add one webhook URL in your payment provider (Stripe, Razorpay, Polar, Paddle or Lemon Squeezy). New sales are matched to the visitor who made them.
  4. Add a data-goal attribute to the buttons you tracked as Plausible goals. Grosslytics counts every visitor who reaches one in its “Reached a goal” step; goals are not yet broken down by name.

Why net revenue matters

Payment providers keep a cut of every sale: Stripe's standard US card rate is 2.9% + 30¢, and merchant-of-record platforms take more. Add ad spend, and a channel with $10,000 in sales, $8,000 in ads and $450 in fees made you $1,550.

Grosslytics ranks channels by revenue per visitor after those costs, so you can see which ones actually pay.
